Welcome to our second CR Meme!

We have amended our original plans so that the CR meme will be posted every 2 months. As new players and characters arrive, they can hash out connections that came before their game play begins, as well as plot out new game play. Specifically, this could also be a good venue to find ship crews that are looking for new crew mates, and for prospective crew mates to find new ship crews.

Mercantile sounds good. There aren't too many restrictions, mostly the difficulty for the marketeers is getting their hands on stuff without having to go months on foot into Sentinel territory-- in other words you more or less need a hovership. Of course once that's done, internally you can do nearly anything you like that isn't obviously dangerous. Actually you can totally shoot this question at our FAQ and we could get a more official-shaped answer for you.

As for Willem, perfect. He's not very smart tho so his understanding of what happened to himself will be limited. You're going to make me have to think of something clever, aren't you?

General Reputation: i doubt matt would have much of anything yet. he's very new, but also frighteningly determined to push through recovery as fast as possible. breaking points, what are those, how do they work, etc. other than that, he's keeping to himself, struggling with truly breaking from the matrix while also getting his bearings in the real. fun stuff!

General Reputation: Jack has been out of the spotlight for a few months, busy on diplomatic assignment in Antioch, but he has been one of Aries’s aides for about a year, and in that time has developed a reputation as a charmer who does actually get things done. It’s easy to spot that Jack comes from a privileged upbringing in his matrix, a crown prince to be exact, but he comes off as something of a mockery of his own stereotype, prone to sarcasm and quick to self-depreciate. Though he may not always seem like it, he is serious about his political goals, and there are rumors he’s a bit vicious when crossed.

Prior to politics, Jack started his career in the ZDG, as an operative specializing in cultural assimilation and political maneuvering. About a year ago half his crew was killed by machines, their captain included, and Jack was generally credited with leading the survivors to safety with some degree of heroics. (The reality is more complicated, but also a secret.) His surviving crew mates seem genuinely fond of him for some reason and he’s known to show less flippant dedication to the well-being of ZDG soldiers.

Less known but certainly not unknown is the fact that Jack is haphazardly religious, with a quiet interest in collecting matrix code for early Judaic artifacts and iterations of Torah. (Basically, if you have or can get something like that, it’s not hard to get pointed his direction for a trade.) On the flip side, he is a generous patron of Zion’s entertainment industry, which is to say he would frequently crawl into a nightclub-shaped hole to die if he could, and in Zion tends to seek out its nearest not-really-equivalents with regularity, although he rarely participates so much as drinks and watches.

Looking For:

• Allies! Rivals! Enemies! Bring me your politics.
  
• ZDG people who were around 1+ years ago, who might know him from his slightly more honest soldiering days and/or know (or have been on!) his crew.
  
• Members of his extraction team if your character was around 2+ years ago.

• Actual black market contacts for someday in the future. I don’t have specific plans yet but Jack is the shady dealings type if you have a need.

General Reputation: Freed from the Matrix three years ago, Blight spent a long time in a hospital after it was discovered that a sickness that had affected him in his Matrix was actually coding the machines placed in his mind. After intense treatment and testing, he was cleared for duty.

The programming in his head gives him the ability to download new skill sets at a faster speed, which makes him ideal for short term or recon missions. However, after spending more than a few hours in the Matrix, he starts to exhibit signs of his illness again.

When not on short term missions, he makes his way as a friendly but quiet technician, mostly focused on helping the average citizen live as comfortably as possible by fixing their appliances and air vents.

Most average citizens don't know about the coding the machines put into his mind. Only officers of ships he may have served on and the doctors who worked on him know about it, and the information is largely kept classified. Blight is considered safe, but there still is a concern about the panic the knowledge that the machines are tampering with people's minds might cause.

To most people, Blight is just a kind, friendly guy who tries to do his best for his neighbors but also mostly keeps to himself. He's friendly enough, but prone to spend most of his time in his quarters unless on call.

Looking For: Anything! Especially, people who can get on his good side and that he can trust. It will be fun to play out the fact that he has a bit of an identity crisis over what has been done to him, but that will only happen with close friends.

no that's what i mean. idk if you would like to have something established or new?? jack remains intense about discretion despite that being almost completely unnecessary in zion, which could be a point of minor conflict maybe?? also he's. a big dramatic baby, u kno, i'm sure we could stir up interpersonal drama somewhere at some point if desired. in any case: potential client.

jack may also be interested in william for his refugee-smuggling contacts actually, he is very, very quietly in favor of accepting refugees and maybe even eventual reunification with irkalla. idk that he'd be willing to stick his neck out anywhere public but if he has access to useful information he might be willing to pass it along via william in exchange for someone's soul/first born child/future favors/other useful information.

he is mostly into things that earn him future favors and influence, BUT i was just typing at china that jack may be tangentially dabbling in providing information to assist smugglers who are bringing irkallan refugees into the city, which seems relevant... so if lexa is familiar with william's beau and vis-a-vis william, they could have a connection there.

jack is generally (although not publicly) in favor of making peace with and/or reuniting as much of the human population as possible and then consolidating power under himself maybe, what, so he may be a useful ally in the future, too.

i'm not sure if bucky is experienced enough at this point to have helped extract matt but definitely he would be curious about new person from their matrix! he doesn't like the rehab area but he might casually stalk the newbie or something once matt is out of physical therapy?? let's have cr.

also idk what your long-term plans are or if matt would be interested in investigating zion corruption, but jack could be an interesting sometimes-adversary someday maybe?? he is not the most sterling of politicians. although he's yet to murder anybody with a car door, so there's that.

YESSSS GOD. monopolize all my cr tbh. I would love Natasha to get her claws into Jack the same way she's trying to do with Zayn Malik. though I feel like his sexual disinterest in women changes the game a lot because she kind of relies heavily on her gender whether it's to seduce or disarm. so I'm interested to see how they click!

I could see Bucky or Jack doing ok with Anders - the former because Anders has fun memory gaps and body control issues and did some Bad Shit he wasn't fully autonomous for because possession, the latter because Anders likes dudes and can be kind of aggressive about it since it's not remotely normal where he comes from.

I am not Kings canon familiar so tell me if I'm way off base with any of this!!!

I am pretty canon blind to DA, so we're equally matched! Anders and Bucky do sound like they'd be interesting together though, I hadn't considered all his Justice stuff! I'd definitely also be interested in seeing how Anders and Jack get along too, because Jack is pretty intensely closeted even in Zion, but he could certainly stand to have that notion challenged.

On which note Jack will totally pretend to be interested in Natasha despite not. actually being interested. He is better at faking interest in women than expressing genuine interest in men (exhibit A vs. exhbit B), so I'd love to see where they go from that impasse.

Yeah, I haven't connected with China about that yet so I'm not sure, but it sounds like at the very least they might've dealt with some of the same people, brushed up against similar circles. He'd probably know of her "her boss's" refugee smuggling efforts. I'd prefer he not know her real identity at least to start with, but maybe down the line a bit we could play with him finding out and getting to decide if/how to use that information.

And I have to say I love the idea of them as allies with similar/overlapping goals but totally different motivations and especially different styles, that sounds like it could be awesome.

Yesss me too. That sounds like a good plan! Jack would be keeping his smuggler connections on the down-low as much as possible too, since this is not a position he's willing to go public about, so we could play around with both of them not knowing everything about the other at first.

ANDERS COULD MAYBE LOOK AT HIS EYES? also I think the Phoenix really can't have been the crew that did the extraction because they're too inexperienced to be let out on that kind of mission, but natasha could still have approached him early in recovery about a month ago if you wanna make that thread game canon?
